Julia Gleason: The Tonga Room is a restaurant you would never expect to be in one of the nicest hotels in SF. Not because the restaurant itself isn't nice but because it just feels out of place. The Tonga Room is something you would imagine coming out of Disney Land or some other whimsical amusement park. There's literally a lagoon in the middle of the restaurant (apparently it was the old Fairmont pool) and it looks like something out of Giligan's Island. A ship comes out every 20 minutes or so with a live show on board. When I went it was a woman singing but I'm not sure if they change that up. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and had quite a few laughs. The food was good but nothing special. Because it's in the Fairmont the prices are way too high for what you get. However, if you're looking for a unique experience and jut want a little fun over dinner, you can't go wrong here.
