Julia Gleason: Big 4 delivered big results! Tucked away in the Huntington Hotel, this dazzling and cozy restaurant left me swooning. The ambiance was the best part of my experience with it's dimly lit rooms, cushy booths and old-fashion decor. It emanates romance and class. The Dine About Town Menu had a decent selection. I was very pleased with their tomato basil soup and grilled cheese bites. They captured the simplicity of this typical comfort food and added in the fancy. It was smooth, creamy and complimented with basil. For my main entree' I ordered the rosemary chicken. It was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. It was almost like eating fried chicken without all that greasy dough! Deee-lish. The only disappointment of the evening were the desserts. We ordered both the bread pudding and berry crisp. The bread pudding was chewy and dense. The berry crisp was good but nothing out of the ordinary; we could have ordered that same dish at any mediocre restaurant. I look forward to coming back again next year for another Dine About Town Experience and/or maybe even sooner for a happy hour at their piano playin' bar.
Briana Hernandez: If you never thought you would willingly fork over $20 for a burger, prepare to be turned around on your heels with napkin in collar. Aside from their interesting, ever-changing menu, their Grass-Fed Burger with House Fries is their main attraction and is always available for order.
Mengfei He: Come for the music, stay for the atmosphere and leave with the taste of the best cuisine in the city. I would highly recommend. Always surprised by the variety of entrees you can choose from.
Mengfei He: Great location if you're walking around pier 39. I think it's the only classy restaurant within that block. Food was ok, not great but 3 hours of free parking rocks.
Julia Gleason: My boyfriend and his friends will probably kick me for giving Hog & Rocks a mere three stars but I can't help it; I just didn't enjoy my food there as much as they did. One of the things I really liked about H&R was that we literally just walked in and got seated. This is a new restaurant and in prime Mission location so I was surprised that this was the case. Half the menu is seafood and the other half is American (mostly pork dishes). Now, I don't eat seafood so right off the bat I was pretty limited. I was debating between the pasta with tomato, egg and ham, or the bratwurst. Since there's been all that talk related to the egg recall a little fear kicked in and I went with the bratwurst. I wish I had gone with the pasta. It's not that the sausace wasn't good (it's house made every day, btw), it just didn't wow me. I took a couple bites of it with the cabbage and was bored. It needed potatoes or some sort of contrasting taste. It all had a very similar flavor which is why I tired of it quickly. I ordered the Moscow Mule for a drink and the first half of it was good and then after that the lime they had put in it was too intense. They put half a lime in and then left it in the cocktail to marinate. It was way too much, way, way, too much. We ordered the crispy cheese and ham fritters (a special); that was probably the best part of the meal for me. They tasted like fried balls of macaroni and cheese. I want to come back and try the pasta. I have a feeling that my rating will increase the next time I visit. P.S. they have a sticky bun parfait that looks unbelievable.
